Slovenia International 2012: Nicole Schaller slaughters Carola Bott to claim Women’s Singles title
Nicole Schaller, a talented shuttler from Switzerland, proved her elevated craft when she claimed Women’s Singles title after beating Germany’s Carola Bott in the title match at FZ Forza Slovenia International 2012 on Sunday, May 13, in Slovenia.
The third seeded Nicole was just impressive in the court on the final day of the event when she displayed a tremendous show and overpowered Bott who was seeded at number 4 in the tournament.
The higher ranked Nicole showed her class in the final contest against the German and proved too strong for Bott as she ended the battle in straight sets by taking just 24 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, Bott could not stretch her gutsy performance in the final match and lost to her Swiss opponent without showing a strong resistance.
In the opening rallies of first game, both shuttlers started in a spirited manner as they played attacking badminton by injecting wonderful power in their shots.
However, no one could claim a reasonable lead as both were at the same level in the court. Until the one-minute interval, both ladies were quite close on the board.
After the break, Bott tried to play fast badminton by taking the bird early at net but she failed to place her shots in right areas and could not take lead.
The score remained close until the ending phase when Nicole showed her class by taking the ending points and won the set with a 21-19 score on the board.
In the second set, Bott lost her focus in the game at initial stage which helped her Swiss opponent to take an early advantage.
Nicole started the second game in a composed manner as she did not drop the pace of rallies and also kept her rival moving in all corners of the court.
Until the one-minute break, Nicole remained successful in taking a decent lead on the score board.
After the break, the higher ranked Swiss lady did not let Bott to catch up at any stage and took the game with a spectacular margin of 21-14.
Nicole won the final contest in straight games of 24 minutes with a sensational 21-19 and 21-14 score on the board.
