Slovenia International 2012: Nicole Schaller topples Maja Tvrdy to surge into Women’s Singles final
Switzerland’s Nicole Schaller continued her roller-coaster run as she surged into Women’s Singles final after toppling Slovenia’s Maja Tvrdy in semi-final showdown at the FZ Forza Slovenia International 2012 in Slovenia, on Saturday, May 12.
Nicole, who was seeded at number 3 in Women’s Singles main draw of Slovenia International, put up remarkable show in semi-final battle when she outplayed the second seeded Maja.
The Swiss lady did not show any sign of confusion in the entire fight and easily registered victory over her higher ranked local opponent in straight games by working for just 38 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, Maja tried to cheer her home fans by playing to her maximum potential but she could not dominate the pace of rallies and also failed to finish point in right areas.
The local shuttler eventually lost the match without winning any set from her lower ranked Swiss challenger.
In the start of opening game, Maja played tremendous badminton as she was aggressive in the court but failed to set up lead because her opponent was also playing with an impressive speed.
Both shuttlers did not let each other to dominate the pace of rallies at any stage in the game until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Nicole showed her brilliance when she started to create gap on the score board by playing aggressive and flawless badminton.
The Swiss lady did not execute negative shots in the concluding half of second game and wrapped it up with a decent score of 21-18.
In the second game, Nicole was in complete control of rallies from the initial stage and she did not show any mercy to Maja who remained trailing behind on the board until the interval.
After the mid-game break, the Swiss shuttler continued playing dominating game and also made her local rival work hard for every point.
The third seeded Nicole was on a different level as she easily bagged the second set of this semi-final clash with a remarkable margin of 21-15.
Nicole won this semi-final battle in two games by a superb 21-18 and 21-15 margin on the score board.
