Slovenia International: Zvonimir Durkinjak – Zvonimir Hoelbling surge into Men’s Doubles final
Croatia’s talented shuttlers Zvonimir Durkinjak and Zvonimir Hoelbling surged into Men’s Doubles final after beating Germany’s Heumann Manuel and Tobias Wadenka in semi-final fight at Slovenia International 2012 in Slovenia, on Saturday, May 12.
Durkinjak and Zvonimir, who are top seeds in Men’s Doubles main draw of the championship, proved their highly elevated skills while playing in semi-final battle and overpowered their lower ranked German rivals quite easily.
The top seeded Croatian shuttlers did not spare any chance for their German rivals and won the contest in straight games in just 30 minutes with a sensational margin on the score board.
In the opening set, Durkinjak and Zvonimir started their campaign in a confident and dominating manner. They did not take much time in taking a comfortable lead at the initial stage.
Until the one-minute break in the opening set, Durkinjak and Zvonimir were going ahead of their lower ranked rivals on the board.
After the break, the top seeds continued their power play in the court without dropping their speed at any stage.
In the meanwhile, the German shuttlers tried to work well at net and dominate the pace of rallies but they failed to push their rivals on the back foot.
Durkinjak and Zvonimir remained positive and quicker in the court and they eventually won the first set of this semi-final stage with a 21-15 score on the board.
In the following set, the German shuttlers accelerated their speed to take an early advantage in the game but failed to dictate the pace as their higher ranked Croatian rivals were in full control of the game.
Durkinjak and Zvonimir were ahead of their opponents until the mid-game interval in the second set.
After the break, the Croatian players continued their convincing run as they did not drop their speed and also did not let their rivals to dominate the pace.
Durkinjak and Zvonimir remained fully focused in the game and easily wrapped up the second set with a remarkable 21-10 score on the board.
The top seeded Croatian shuttlers bagged this Men’s Singles semi-final contest in just 30 minutes with a comprehensive margin of 21-15 and 21-10.
