Slovenia International: Zvonimir Durkinjak – Zvonimir Hoelbling wrap up Men’s Doubles title
Zvonimir Durkinjak and Zvonimir Hoelbling, ace shuttlers from Croatia, lived up to expectations as they wrapped up Men’s Doubles title at FZ Forza International 2012 on Sunday, May 13, at Medvode, Slovenia.
In the final contest, Durkinjak and Hoelbling had to dig into their arsenal to defeat Germany’s Andreas Heinz and Jones Ralfi Jansen and claimed the crown.
The in-form Durkinjak and Hoelbling, who were top seeds in Slovenia International, employed all of their skills to get rid of their lower ranked German opponent in the rubber set title match.
The higher ranked Croatian shuttlers put up good show and consumed 54 minutes in the court to register victory over their rivals.
On the other hand, Andreas and Jones played to their maximum potential and tried their best to play positive badminton but they could not put up strong show in the third set and eventually lost the match with a respectable score on the board.
In the first game, the Germans showed their highly elevated skills as they played with precision and remained ahead of their rivals on the board.
Until the one-minute break, Durkinjak and Hoelbling were struggling in the court and were slightly behind their Lower ranked German opponents.
After the break, Durkinjak and Hoelbling tried to take over the control but failed to push their rivals on the back foot and lost the opening game with a 17-21 score on the board.
In the second game, both sides played remarkable badminton and also kept the local crowd engaged. Until the break, the top seeded Croatians were leading the game this time.
After the interval, Durkinjak and Hoelbling continued their elevated play and stretched their lead. They remained consistent this time and managed to take the set with a decent margin of 21-17.
In the deciding set, Durkinjak and Hoelbling were on a different level as they played impressive badminton in opening rallies and set up a remarkable gap on the board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Durkinjak and Hoelbling maintained their dominating position in the court and easily wrapped up the final set with a one-sided score of 21-12.
Durkinjak and Hoelbling bagged the title in an emphatic fashion by winning the final contest with a 17-21, 21-17 and 21-12 margin on the board.
