Slovenia determined to stretch the winning streak – 2011 CEV Volleyball League
The Men’s National Volleyball Team of Slovenia finished first spell of matches in the league round of 2011 CEV Volleyball League with absolute success.
Team Slovenia appeared in six matches and accumulated a score of 6-0, which obviously put them in the top ranking of the group. Slovenia is playing in Pool A, which has teams from Belgium, Great Britain, and Croatia. All three pool members contested their
spike and block tactics with Slovenia and played two matches apiece but none of them could hinder the performance of Slovenian hotshots.
Slovenia started the campaign by taking Team Belgium. They played two matches and showed their thirst for better status. Slovenia hit the mark and captured both matches. In the next run, Slovenia was challenged by Croatian team. The incredible show of volleyball
by Slovenian players did not stop and they saw off Croatia as well. Croatia suffered the damage of losing two matches to Slovenia. Likewise, team from Great Britain put up against Slovenia in the next two matches. The fans got to witness some cracking action
on the centre court but once again Slovenia walked away with the tag of winners.
Although Slovenian squad was struggling with a lot of injuries during the campaign but they demonstrated a spectacular performance. Some of the players are still down with injuries.
The assistant coach of the team, Tine Sattler stated, “Alen Sket and Matevz Kamnik are getting better and better day by day as predicted by our medical staff. They are already training with the team and they shall join the games coming up this weekend. Alan
Komel and Vid Jakopin shall come back next week as well and our first libero Sebastijan Skorc is also recovering. So things are definitely getting back on track.”
Moreover, he told that two key players Sattler and Vukovic will be on rest in the next two matches. They will stay out of the court, in order to create a chance for young players to gain some knowledge of the game. After winning six consecutive matches,
Slovenia is in better position to afford such risks. The players are confident and it is more likely that they will not fail to impress.
The second spell of the league round is scheduled to start on Saturday, June 18. In the first encounter of Pool A, Slovenia is all set to face Great Britain. Both sides are preparing hard to clinch success.
Slovenia has firm ambition to maintain their dominance, while Great Britain will surely be seeking revenge of the last defeats. Likewise, Croatian and Belgian teams will also cross their ways with Slovenia, respectively. It would be interesting to watch
them fighting this battle of supremacy. Keep in touch for more updates.
