I have recieved a replacement bt home hub but on installing and using this replacement hub i have noticed my bt broadband connection speed has slowed right down to a crawl with downloads taking hours ..not seconds this can`t be right?? I have made no changes to the settings of the equpiment so find it odd to find such a drop in speed for no reason..any help would be great.. uk users only thanks, i have tried all the usual tricks.deleting internet history etc and a disk defrag to try and speed things up but no joy as yet, all the relevant lights on the home hub are green, And the firmware is current also, so i know its working ok..just want to cure the speed sssue..Many thanks in advance

  1. you can test your broadband speed at speedtest.net

it also depends on how far away you exchange is

  2. Could be a line issue. You may have good clean clear dial tone & the line tests ok but thier could, for example, be high resistance dis-connection on the line. Basically there is a poor connection somewhere. I work in telecoms & they can be a real pain to find. First thing to do is have your line checked by your service provider.

I have a home hub & when the speed dropped it was a line issue. Nothing wrong with the hub or the PC.

  3. Try resetting the hub itself.
