Slow logging in on laptop

Question

My problem is with 'starting up' which has become very slow. I have a HP Pavilion 8000 laptop. I have recently just reinstalled my wireless netgear router although this has given no such problems in the past. I have installed spybot and Avira Premium Suite. The malware on the Avira has stopped working. Could this be connected? Would appreciate any help please.
