  1. Talk to a local lawn care company. There are products that change the growth habits of lawn grasses, they are used on golf course fairways all the time.

I know that they are available for home owners but you'll just have to hunt around.

  2. Sun, heat, water and fertilizer are what makes it grow. Cut back on the last two and it should help.

  3. I take it you are not watering. There really isn't a whole lot you can do other than remove as much as possible and put in a rock garden.  I have a dry creek bed in my back yard.  I am also expanding my patio.  I haven't gotten rid of the grass yet, but by the time I do a koi pond with a waterfall and a seating area with a fire pit, there won't be much left.

  4. You need a plant growth regulator- PRIMO.  It is only sold commercially so you will have a difficult time finding something.  Like this last guy suggested, you need a lawn care company.

I spray this on my golf course greens and tees to regulate the growth and cut back on labor expenses.  It makes the turf so much healthier too.

    Where are you?

  5. Well you can two things.Kill the lawn or not cut it quite as much. You could ask God perhaps to slow it down for you.
