Slug through a non rifled barrel?

Have a Remington 870 Super Mag Express. Can I shoot a rifled slug through it with out a rifled barrel? Has the modified choke

  1. The rifling on a forester type shot gun slug is supposed to impart spin to the slug. It would be smoothed out in a tighter choke. I used them in a Winchester Model 12 for a number of years pie plate accuracy out to 150 feet. I switch to number 4 buck because it patterned better in that gun. When steel shot came in I sold it. I use a rifled barrel Winchester 1300 with Remington Copper solids and it holds right on 2 inch groups to 100 yards. I have usedFederal rifled slugs in also but they are highly suceptible to wind drift beyond 50 yard and they are not brush busters. I am looking forward to using the new polymer tipped slugs and seeing how they behave.
