Leonid Slutsky has urged the Moscow-based club to win the remaining games of the campaign if they are to win the Russian Premier League title this season
CSKA Moscow will host Terek Grozny in the latest round of Russian Premier League action at Luzhniki stadium on Saturday. The Moscow-based club will play the upcoming fixture on the back of a 2-0 defeat against Rubin Kazan at Luzhniki
stadium last Sunday.
After a quiet first half, the home team started to look nervous and ultimately conceded two goals. Salomon Rondon and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roman-Eremenko-c31621 were on the score sheet for the visiting side respectively.
CSKA’s latest defeat means they are now at the touching distance from Zenit St. Petersburg. As things stand, they are at the top of the league table. However, they are just three points ahead from the defending league champions.
With only four league meetings remaining, the St. Petersburg still have a chance to leapfrog the Armeytsy again just like they did last season. CSKA, on the other hand, have a better goal difference at the moment.
Leonid Slutsky, the head coach, has lamented his side’s latest defeat against the Kazan-based club at home after saying that his side were not up to the mark and did not deserve any points out of the nail-biting encounter.
“Unfortunately, we have not played as planned and the main thing is that we have not succeeded. We failed to take advantage of the situation. We conceded the first goal and failed to pick our heads back up.”
“Unfortunately, we missed. Rubin probably is the best team in the country. They know how to build a game and take advantage after scoring first. We tried to change the course of the meeting but could not do it.” The Russian Cup
winner was quoted as saying.
CSKA will now play the upcoming league tie against Terek Grozny at home, keeping in mind any slip up may cost them the league title.
“Terek proved to be a team that can spoil the blood of any club but CSKA will do their best to win the necessary three points.” He concluded.
