Leonid Slutsky has heaped praise on Honda, insisting that the Japanese international is more than welcome to extend his stay at the Russian Premier League club
CSKA Moscow attacking midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Keisuke-Honda-c20516, has been given another lifeline by Leonid Slutsky after the latter insisted that the Japanese International can still have a future at the Russian Premier League club.
The 26-year-old midfielder, who joined the Armeytsy from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 this winter after the Italian outfit failed to conclude business in the summer.
Honda became a fan favourite at the Moscow-based club after scoring the winning goal in the UEFA Champions League tie against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ramón-Sánchez-c30550 Pizjuán, having already setup the opening goal for Tomas Necid.
However, the AFC Asian Cup winner struggled to remain fit during his career. A shoulder injury followed by another muscle injury kept the player out for much of the last league campaign.
The Japanese International has scored seven goals in 19 appearances this season including the winning goal in the UEFA Europa League’s group stage match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AIK-c38243 Athens on the away turf.
And keeping in mind that Honda responded well to his critics this season, Slutsky has lavished praise on the pass master after hinting that the player can extend his stay despite all the exit rumours and speculations.
“I am pleased that Honda is continuously playing without injuries. I think he is glad to operate in the current position in which we are playing him at the moment. And now that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vagner-c35793 Love are not available,
he is looking more comfortable in a free role.”
“He is a great professional in every sense. He always does everything possible for the development of his own game. If the development in the player’s career coincides with my views on the team game, it is an ideal situation.”
The Russian Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Though Slutsky remained tight-lipped after being questioned about the player’s future, he was quick to admit that he don’t mind offering Honda a new contract should he decide to stay.
