The well known Russian football expert blames Leonid Slutsky for CSKA Moscow’s poor Russian Premier League form during the third league round.
Football agent, Dennis Lachter, has assessed the prospects of CSKA Moscow head coach, Leonid Slutsky, revealing that the former Uralan Elista manager is lucky to be still in charge of the affairs.
CSKA were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League round-of-16 by Real Madrid, after suffering a humiliating Russian Cup exit against FC Volgar-Gazprom Astrakhan. The defending cup winners suffered a 1-0 defeat against the Astrakhan-based
club in a closely contested match.
CSKA’s domestic form has been equally poor during the third league round, having claimed 5 points in four outings. Lachter laments the Koni’s latest 0-2 defeat against Lokomotiv Moscow and blamed the manager for the results.
Lachter revealed that Slutsky would have been fired had he been in a different club.
However, he admitted that a series of similar results will force the Russian outfit to get rid of their manager.
“Slutsky is a lucky coach. I think luck is with CSKA and the manager. They are used to claiming points and record wins they don’t deserve. CSKA were lucky enough to come out of the UEFA Champion’s League group stages.
“CSKA have avoided hiring foreign coaches and this could be one of the reasons why they are still stuck with their manager. Another problem with the head coach is that he's too soft spoken.” Lachter was quoted as saying.
Lachter went on to admit that Slutsky is enjoying a good relationship with Yevgeni Giner, the Koni president. The Russian expert revealed that Giner would have sacked the manager had Slutsky not helped the Russian outfit reach
the pre-quarter-finals in Europe.
The FIFA registered agent admitted that the Armeytsy cannot afford to hire an experienced head coach at Luzhniki stadium.
Lachter warned the Russian tactician that failure to secure Champions League football will result in his sacking. CSKA need to retain at least third-spot on the league table to play in Europe next season. As things stand, they
are at the second spot in the Russian Premier League.
