Slutsky rules out Doumbia and includes Honda for the Russian Super Cup against Zenit – Football News
CSKA Moscow head coach, Leonid Slutsky, has confirmed that the Moscow-based club will be without the services of star striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Seydou-Doumbia-c33175, ahead of the Russian Super Cup against Zenit St. Petersburg on July 13, 2013.
The 42-year-old coach, who became the youngest coach to win Russian Premier League tie last season, confirmed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Keisuke-Honda-c20516 is likely to make a swift return after recovering from an injury.
“I think it will be an interesting match because Zenit can be named our principal rivals. I am pretty sure that the stadium will be filled at Rostov. We hope for the support of our loyal army of fans and will do everything possible
to win a third trophy in this calendar year. Doumbia no longer play because of injuries, so we will use other options. Honda is preparing for the match. We gave him extra leave because he played for Japanese national team at the Confederation Cup. The player
is in good shape,” the former Uralan Elista manager was quoted as saying.
Doumbia, who remained absent for much of the last season after suffering different injuries, is not available with a calf strain while Honda, who has been heavily linked with a move to AC Milan this summer, will play his part in
the match.
CSKA have a chance to compete for the third trophy of the season, having already won the Russian Premier League title and Russian Cup. The Armeytsy finished three points above Zenit in the standings and defeated Anzhi Makhachkala
in the domestic cup final last month.
