As things stand, the Moscow-based club are atop the league table with 49 points. The Armeytsy will now play against Alania Vladikavkaz at the start of next month after the international break.
The Koni head coach, Leonid Slutsky, has hailed the team’s overall performances this season and said that he was bitterly disappointed with the Moscow-based club’s below par finish last season.
There is little arguing to the statement that CSKA remained unfortunate not to win the league title last season, having kept a place at the top of the Russian top division until the last round of the championship.
The 41-year-old manager was particular proud of the recent signings he made after they slip up last season. Slutsky credited the entire team and highlighted terrific signings: Vagner Love and Pontus Wernbloom respectively.
Slutsky managed to sign Love barely twelve months after selling the Brazilian striker to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar last year.
“After the failure of last season we started restructuring the team and try to change the methods involved. We switched to 4-2-3-1 and it did not take too much time to adapt.”
“We signed Wernbloom who has terrific spirit and character. He's very demanding. Perhaps he is not very bright but he has scored many important goals since arriving. I think he is a very important figure in our mechanism.”
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vagner-c35793 is another player upon whom we can rely. He is a fantastic striker and can easily fit into any scheme. He wants to win every game.” The Russian Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Slutsky went on to warn his side against complacency, saying that Anzhi Makhachkala and Zenit St. Petersburg are waiting in the wings to overtake them.
