Leonid Slutsky has hailed Vagner Love and Pontus Wernbloom, saying that the players played a key role in helping the Russian Premier League club this season
CSKA Moscow retained the top spot on the Russian Premier League table after defeating FC Krasnodar, having already collected all three points against FC Krylia Sovetov Samara at Metallurg stadium earlier this month.
As things stand, the Moscow-based club are atop the league table with 49 points. The Armeytsy will now play against Alania Vladikavkaz at the start of next month after the international break.
The Koni head coach, Leonid Slutsky, has hailed the team’s overall performances this season and said that he was bitterly disappointed with the Moscow-based club’s below par finish last season.
There is little arguing to the statement that CSKA remained unfortunate not to win the league title last season, having kept a place at the top of the Russian top division until the last round of the championship.
The 41-year-old manager was particular proud of the recent signings he made after they slip up last season. Slutsky credited the entire team and highlighted terrific signings: Vagner Love and Pontus Wernbloom respectively.

“After the failure of last season we started restructuring the team and try to change the methods involved. We switched to 4-2-3-1 and it did not take too much time to adapt.”

Slutsky went on to warn his side against complacency, saying that Anzhi Makhachkala and Zenit St. Petersburg are waiting in the wings to overtake them.
