Small 80GB Ipod problem

Many of you know that Apple recently released a newer version, right? but ever since i updated, my Ipod has been acting a bit strange. once i plug it into the USB port and Itunes appears, etc. the screen on my Ipod seem to be stuck on the "Connected" , "eject before disconnecting". normally it would go away after awhile and return to the normal screen, but it's still there minutes later :(

it works fine after i unplug it, but why is it doing that? think i should re-install intunes?

  1. reset your ipod press menu and the center button at the same time until the apple appears

  2. Looks like it's time for a restore.

Apple has been working hard at updates both in iTunes and the iPhone, unfortunately leaving iPod users behind. This means as Apple updates iPhone 2.0 and iTunes, there will be compatibility issues with other iPod software. No worries, it's just growing pains. It'll end soon enough (or Apple will release the rumored iPhone Nano that just combines the iPod with a phone and things will really start to get interesting).

Simply go into your iPod menu in iTunes and first check for a software update. If there isn't any, simply restore your iPod. This will reset everything and your iPod should be fine and hic-up free again.

Keep in mind, when you do this it will erase all the data you've accumulated and cause a cold sync. Which means you have to wait while iTunes dumps all the info back onto your iPod. From previous experience with the old 30 GB, that takes a while, so go have a coffee, make a sandwhich or watch Lawrence of Arabia.

  3. do you have your ipod on manually manage music in itunes? if that is the case you have to manually disconnect the ipod everytime or uncheck manually manage music in itunes.
