I have found a small lizard in my backyard and I wonder what it eats. Plus, what do I need to do to help it from dying? Will it just die? I have it in a jar with small holes. Help me.

  1. Just let the lizard go... unless you are prepared to spend anywhere from $50 to $100 to get what the lizard actually needs, just put it back where you found it. It'll die in no time in a jar. A reptile in captivity needs an adequate sized cage/tank (with lid), bedding, a heat lamp, a UV lamp, water dish, cage decorations like plants, branches, rocks, and hideaway, 2 thermometers to monitor the temperature of the cage, and a hygrometer to monitor the humidity.

Odds are the lizard will eat crickets or meal worms or something, but unless you get the correct habitat setup just giving it food isn't going to do any good.

  2. Hi. I have a pool so I find small lizards on the bottom of my pool all the time! I might put them in a container for an hour or two but I let them go after that.

*Well first, can you find something bigger than a jar? At the minimum, i would say 1 foot in length. You don't have to have something fancy, how about something like a tupperware container with some kind of net over it? (or plastic wrap with lots of holes in it)

    * Lizards eat insects. You can experiment with different insects to see which kind yours like best. If you would like, you can check out your local pet store. They have reptile food, and my friend's lizards love crickets. Here are the crickets she buys at petsmart: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js...

The cans are quite cheap and last long. Since your lizard is such a tiny one, get him tiny insects.

*Feed him one insect in the morning and one insect in the evening.

*In the cage you must have a container of water (or may I say a bath =D) The water MUST be available at all times or the lizard will dry up. You can put the food anywhere in the container. Put some grass at the bottom and keep it moist throughout the day. Put some sticks in the container also.

*Keep the cage in the shade.

    Have fun !

  3. i realliy think u need to put it back..

but if your gonna keep it get a tank not a d**n jar

how would u feel if you were taken out ur house and put in a cage

  4. Do you have a pic? You need to find out what it is then you can just look up what it eats on the net.

  5. if you found it in the wild they eat many differnt things... you can try fruits and veg, and you can also gets some cricks.... and some milworms from the pet store. i have had a pet lizard before and it didnt die so yours shouldnt either
