Question:

Small Squirrel dilemma?

I found some baby squirrels in a tree without their mother (the nest had fallen from the tree on monday) they are fully furred and maybe 5-8 weeks old.

Yesterday, they where dehydrated so I fed them water from a dripper for medicine and fed them cut up apples. They where active and healthy for the rest of the day.

Today, they just slept and didn't eat or drink. On one of them, there where tiny white(ish-yellow) stiks coming out of his cheeks (we assumed they where maggots) so we took them to the SPCA where they are trying to do whatever they can.

Where did I go wrong?

Thanks

  1. I think you did right to take them to SPCA. If the nest had actually been moved then the parents would probably have deserted them. If you are not familiar with how to raise them you did the right thing in taking them to someone who could look after them

  2.   Feed them canned goat milk cut fifty/fifty with watter.I have raised lots of baby squirrels this way.
