I have a small brook near my house in MA and I really want to fish it but I can't afford waders. What is the chance that there will be leeches in the brook at this time of year?? I dont want to come out covered in them..

  1. Well if the streams up there are brush choked like in Jersey you'll have to contend with the tick problem and limited casting opportunities. Maybe you can do some odd jobs around your neighborhood and earn the money. If you put the word out about what you are trying to do someone will help. Good luck.

  2. Here is a question back at you, If it's a brook why can't you just walk the side of it like a creek? if it's a stream you can walk along side also but only rivers do you need to wade into or am I wrong? never-the-less you can stretch warp your legs down to your feet and under your socks and wear all stars and long pants and wade up to the height you wraped your legs very safely.....

  3. Artie has a good answer, to add if you have the need to get into the water.slip on a pair of sheer panty hose under your cloths they are light, cool, and leach proof. best part they come in many shades. match your skin tone. Resource: http://www.walmart.com/

  4. Without knowing the exact temperature and size of water its hard to say, stay on the banks and fish it from there to be on the safe side until you buy some waders, however the chances of leeches are still small.

  5. You could always advertise on Craigslist that you're looking for a set of waders
