Hi, I live in a small rural area and we only have one phone company to choose from and it is a co-op. They have thier "own" long distance plans for us to choose from and the lowest one is .10 cents a min. They kind of have us dangling by a string because we cant get service from another company. Does anyone know a way we could use a different long distance carrier, I think we should be able to pick our own long distance carrier...example: vonage...but I type our # in and its not avail in our area.

Our phone bill is huge every month due to long distance calls and its just not working out.

Any help would be great!

  1. See if Yak America is available in your area.

They have two kinds of LD service.

    1010-YAK (1010-925) Dial-Around calling.

No need to change carriers, just dial-around your carrier by dialling 1010-925.  It will either work, if available in your area, or not.

All calls are 5 cents/min anywhere in USA/Canada.

Calls are billed through your local phone company at 5 cent/min and appears on your monthly phone bill.

No contracts, no changing carriers..... just dial 1010-925 and then your LD number such as 1-x*x-x*x-xxxx.

They also provide regular long distance service, in many areas...
