I was parking my friend's car on the street with his permission, and i hit the car which was parked behind me. Damage was really small, just very small dent from the license plate bolt from other car and no paint damage. He is asking $300 to fix, and should I go with insurance or pay cash? I think $300 is too much but there are no other way. Please, anybody help me~~

  1. 300 is NOTHING for car repairs. Even the itty bittiest little scratch usually cost 300-600ish.   I mean.. its up to you and your friend. If your friends goes through their insurance you both wont have to pay anything.. but it may affect their rates.   Talk to your friend and see if they would prefer you pay.. it might be the nice thing to do.

  2. I'm not an expert on this, but I would suggest you take a tour here, there are expert's tips over there.http://car-insurance.easyideas4u.info/ca...

  3. First, if your friend uses insurance to repair his vehicle, he will have to use his own insurance as insurance follows the vehicle. In other words, you cannot use your own insurance to pay for damages to his vehicle.  If you were driving a different vehicle and hit your friend's car then you could use your own insurance, but being that you were driving his vehicle, you have to use his insurance. You can only use the insurance of the vehicle involved in the accident.  Secondly, if your friend does use his own insurance then he will have a deductible to pay...this can range from $100-$1000 depending on what he elected when he took out the policy (I'm a claims adjuster and find that most people have a $500 deductible).  This deductible would be more than the damages to the vehicle so the insurance company wouldn't be able to pay out anything.  Thirdly, your friend's insurance policy rates may go up being that his vehicle would be charged with involvement in an at fault accident.  For these reasons it is your best bet to just pay your friend out of pocket.  If you are concerned about $300 to be excessive, have your friend go to a bodyshop were he is going to get it repaired to get an estimate and to prove the cost...(However, $300 is a small amount once you factor in repair, paint, labor, removing parts, etc). I would just pay your friend the $300.
