Question:

Small beer breweries are cool. Is there any equivalent for soda?

Small-time, local breweries are kind of a "thing" amongst beer-drinkers. I don't drink alcohol at all, and I wondered the other day if there was any kind of equivalent for soda. Big names like Budweiser and Coors are big, but there are hundreds of smaller brewers. Do I have to drink Coke, Pepsi, or value brands if I want soda, or are there small alternatives? If so, where would I buy them?

I can personally vouch for IBC root beer and cream sodas. VERY high quality soda-- almost a rich, "micro brew" feel to them...

Coke and Pepsi are like Budwiser to them.

  2. Interesting question, I drink craft beer but not too much soda. I know Abita, which is a craft brewery in Louisiana, brews root beer as well.

When I was camping in Pennsylvania, I had Sarsaparilla made by Souix City. They also make cream soda, root beer, ginger beer, etc.

    Edit:

I just bought an espresso coffee soda today made by a company called Manhattan Special that was pretty good.

  3. Try the local supermarket.
