Small black bug with wings in bathroom...?

Question

I keep finding these small black bugs in my bathroom that have wings. I don't think they can actually fly. I've seen them life their wings but they don't actually get off the ground. They have a hard shelled body (they make a crunch noise when smashed). They appear to be all black and about a quarter inch or smaller. I've found 3 in the bathroom and 2 in our bedroom...yuck! Any ideas?

roaches...they really fly.  sweep the corners of all the rooms and under the rugs as well
