We have an older Coleman (yes Coleman) boat that is 11 feet long and I am wondering if a 6 horse is a good size.. Too big.. too small? The boat is kind of beat up... Not too bad but one of the floor pipes that is part of the frame is bent.. It hold 400 pounds including gear... is a 6horse going to pushing water too fast for out little boat? Thanks

  1. A 6 hp motor is perfect for that size of boat.    You'll move along pretty good with it.  I have a 12 ft aluminum deep V with a 5 hp motor and it does just fine.  I only use it when I am going somewhere where my electric motor isn't going to do the job.

  2. i go with a bigger one to me more power we need more power like tim allen on home improvement

  3. It should be just a bout right. I have one with a 7.5 Mercury & it's planes out nicely...
