Small business question?

I'm expanding my small business and opening a store front in the next 2 months or so. I'm kind of lost on how to go about getting a credit card terminal so I can accept plastic. I Google it, and a million sites offering the service come up. How do I weed out the good ones from the scams? Anyone have a particular service they can recommend? Thanks!

  1. I actually recently got a point of sale system from wireberry.com. They were pretty good when it came to helping me figure out what I needed. They also installed the system for me. I think that they also do stand-alone credit card terminals... not sure. You should give them a call.

    Congrats on your new store!

  2. Hello, I sell t-shirts. i went to your page, but I could not e-mail you. Please go to my page, and e-mail me. Maybe we could possibly work out some kind of deal. I don't know, but it would be good to at least try.

  3. First data is a very reliable company, however I would go talk to your banker first.  Your merchant banker should be able to set you up with a terminal that meets your needs.

  4. If you are near a Costco they offer systems for retailers as part of the general services offered their business customers.  I suspect BJ's and some of the other warehouse clubs catering to entrepreneurs also offer similar systems.

The prices are good and the endorsement of a major warehouse club assures you they are legitimate.

    Hope this helps

  5. I have owned and operated my own companies for 35 years and the best and least expensive service by far is Sam's Club Merchant Services, simply call them and you will get all the help you need. I do however suggest you ask them which machines they allow and use then go to Ebay and buy your own. The machines the credit card companies want to sell you range from $650 to $1500, you can buy the excact same ones on Ebay for $50 to $150. I learned this the hardway after spending $1200 for my machine only to find it on Ebay for $75 brand new!
