Small businesses don't force employees to work, so why should the Government force us to pay their health car?

I agree.  Why stop there.  I say lets do away with all governmental programs so I don't have to pay ANY taxes.  No more police, firemen, interstate highways, schools etc.

The same reason why car insurance is mandatory. It spread the risk. It is in our economic long-term self interest to do so. Also, small businesses will be exempt from this requirement.

You and I are paying for it one way or another....

They either go to the ER, never pay their bills and taxes pick up the tab....or we fund their insurance premiums.....

This is what you aren't grasping....the govt is paying for insurance for those who refuse or cannot pay already, why not pay for 1/10th of those costs rather than 10/10ths of the cost?

They shouldn't. The government should with my taxes that are already covering federal, state, county and city workers health care.

It amazes me.  Healthcare offered at any job is an enhancement to salary, where the employee benefits and the employer enjoys a tax break from monetary salary in lieu of paying the premium.  You are right, why doesn't the government offer their health plan perk to the uninsured?  Pay the premium that they don't even have to pay for! Now that would be real CHANGE
