Small car, small price...?

Question

I'm looking to buy a new SMALL car. I was thinking of maybe getting the Smart Car or the Toyota Yaris Hatchback but I've read a lot of bad things about them. I'm not looking for something perfect just a decent small looking car under 15k. What car do you suggest?

By the way I don't like the Honda Fits design...
