Question:

Small dog, want to fly home with him in the airplane's cabin?

I have a medium sized dog, which I believe would be acceptable to fly in the cabin of an airplane. I'm going home from Austin, TX to St.Louis, MO over Thanksgiving for about a week and would like to bring him with me.

Can anyone let me know problems they may have had...or any experiences in general with traveling with a pet?

  1. because cabin's are small and enclosed, it's an allergy issue taking them in the cabin. you'd have to check with the airline.

  2. On AirTran, if they are SMALL, you can take him a a part of your carry-on luggage.

  3. Your going to have to check with your airline.

Some airlines I have seen people with small dogs and some airlines wont allow pets at all.

I can say I have never seen a "medium" sized dog. I have only seen Chihuahua's and in most cases they are in a purse or purse like bag.

They also have a bell on their neck its alot like paris hiltons dog which makes me sick.

  4. You cannot have a pet in the cabin with you. It has to go in the cargo hold.

  5. i know someone who did it and it was perfectly fine. you have to be willing to pay though. or at least this person had to pay for a seat for her dog. if your dog is well behaved it's probably fine.

  6. I've never heard of that being allowed.

I think it's mandatory to put little sweetie into a travel cage.

Maybe you can mildly sedate baby first.

  7. check with the airline.

i know all the dogs that have been in the cabin in any of my flights had to be in a carrier the ENTIRE duration of the flight.

  8. Why not drive and save your dog from the hassle and danger of flying. Austin to St. Louis is not that far.
