Small globe 60w light bulb?

Question

Why can you only burn small globe 60w light bulbs base down to horizontal, but not base up? I am trying to use these for a chandelier we just bought and I can't seem to find any that say you can use them base up.

Why not get chandelier bulbs?  Try a specialty store that carries lamps, fixtures and bulbs. There are beautiful ones out there.  I don't know if any are as strong as 60w.  

Putting in too strong a bulb can also cause a fire, so be careful.  Maybe you should have other lighting in the area?
