Small medium size business definition?

I've searched all the way into nothing on MicroFinance Bank's definition of SMEs. Would you provide me with some links or the knowledge of your own?

  1. It varies by country and employer, but typically small = less than 100 employees, medium is less than 500 employees.  

    My employer, for example, actually measures it by revenue and not employee size.  Anything under 25k is small, under 100k is medium.  But of course, this is going to be different based on the field of the organization.

  2. The Small Business Administration has a small business size standard table that defines small businesses. There is no clear cut definition of small businesses where you say that less than 500 employees is defined as small business. The definition varies per industry
