Small red bumps on labia?

Ugh, this is quite personal but it's been going on for so long that I just can't take it.

Ever since I started shaving "down there" (about 3 years ago), I ALWAYS have these little red bumps. They aren't painful and don't affect my urination. I can't figure it out even though I've done countless research. I'm embarassed to tell my Mom, but what if it's important? Can someone tell me if it's just shave bumps or an infection of some sort? And if so, can I stop it with over-the-counter meds or do I need to see a Gyno?

  1. you dont need to see a gyno. its not serious. from now on, use conditioner. trust me, it will work and it will leave that area feeling smoother with way less bumps, if any at all. shave downward, never upward.

  2. They are indeed ingrown hairs, but if you are too embarrassed to ask your mom, you don't even need to consider waxing! The at-home kits are not anywhere near as good as the salon stuff the pro's use so unless you are okay with sprawling out and letting a stranger do it then I say just keep shaving.

I shave down there ever few days and I always have great results, and hardly ever have ingrowns.

I use a Schick Quattro 4 razor and either Coochy Shave Cream or Skintamate Shave Gel for Sensitve Skin.

Always shave WITH the hair, not against it, that is where your ingrowns will start!!  Make sure you rinse your blade after ever pass to clear out the hair and shave cream and give a super close shave. Try your best to not go over the same areas more than twice. The less aggravation the better. After, use a fragrance free lotion like aquaphor.

  3. I think those are hair ingrowns...

You get those when you shave against the way the hair are growing...Some of the hairs will now grow to where the pore is, they stay stuck inside the skin and so you get a bump

I have those on my armpits, so stopped shaving..I tweeze instead...since you can't tweeze down there...you must wax instead
