Small towns around Galway City?

Question

We decided to use Galway City as our home base and stay there about 10-12 days. We want to take day trips out to other towns nearby... by bus or bike. Any ideas of what towns to go to and what to do/see there? Nothing over an hour away. Thank you!

lotg_4eva what about my lovely hometown of Loughrea, what are you sending her to Tuam for, she'd need a bullet proof vest, lol.

Kinvarra, Cong, Ashford(technically mayo but still under an hour).

Loughrea is just a street and was voted the most boring town in ireland,

Tuam is a nice town, ejits like the one below are to be expected on your trip to ireland. If tuam is such a rough town then why is there never any news about peole being attacked, I know loughrea quite well and its a kip, the only good thing in it is the bus stop.

If you come to Tuam , you will see two cathederals a church of ireland and a catholic one, tuam is a cathederal city and home of a once high king of ireland Rory o connor, meaning that Tuam was once one of the capitals of ancient ireland.There is a high cross, and the remains of a round tower in kilbannon just outside tuam,

tuam, craughwell, athenry?? bout an hour away....cliffden?? connemara is gorgeous but its not near galway city...

You should go out to Clifden, if you can. It's gorgeous.
