  1. check local restaurants . my friend got married on a Sunday did the wedding and reception at the restaurant  everything but cake flowers and dresses was 2500.00 that is in AZ but I'm sure you can find something local. go to Vegas alot of bang for your buck there . Atlantic city  may offer the same you could do a home wedding and do alot of the flowers and decor yourself you can save alot on food if you do a middle of the day or after dinner wedding and just do cake and deserts or cake nd appetizers just make sure the guests know something like desert reception to follow wording on the invitation

  2. Find a nice restaurant, and get married there and have your reception.  Buy your flowers wholesale online and have someone drop off arrangements

You could do it old hollywood style and go to the courthouse with those closests to you, and get married... then head to an extravagant meal.  Afterwards, go out to the bar to party.

  3. You can get cheap vases from dollar tree.  You can get cheap invitations from like ACmoore.  And they provide 40% coupons online.  You can go to oriental trading for cheap favors and other decorations.

  4. I am having a small wedding with a very limited amount of people.  My total guest list is 50 which that may not seem as *small* but the original guest list on my side alone was 125.

To save on money, try to get a venue where they do the ceremony in the same place you have the reception so that you don’t have to pay for two different sites.  A lot of people don’t like the idea of having it in a hotel, but I find it best.  You use the hotel catering and the price of the venue is typically embedded in the total catering price.  Also, if you do go with a hotel they will typically decorate for you so you don’t have to worry about getting flowers for yourself.

Decide what you can live without and what you absolutely must have.  Also, afternoon receptions are usually cheaper and sometimes you don’t even need a DJ.  If possible, have it on a Sunday because Saturdays are usually more expensive.  Don’t have it on a holiday like Valentine’s Day or some crazy popular date like 9/9/2009 or 10/10/2010 because everything will be premium pricing.

  5. First thing : Prioritize. Sit down with your fiance and figure out what you want the most and what you'll be willing to scrimp on or even give up all together. For instance, you might want fresh flowers, but they'll take a hunk out of your budget. Fake flowers are not only less expensive, but they last longer and are less likely to make someone have an allergey attack. Both were big considerations for me.

The Dress: Many retailers have outlet stores that sale evening gowns for next to nothing. Take a look around and see if there's anything you like. Also ask around your local bridal shops and see when they'll be having a sample sale.

The Photos: Contact a local university and see if there are any photography majors who would like a job. Most of the time these students will charge significantly less than a regular photographer if you'll let them use the photos.

Food: There are several options. If it's a small wedding try asking everyone to bring a covered dish. Or simply serve finger foods. Talk to your grocery stores about the cake, they usually have good deals and beautiful looking options.

  6. Marthastewart.com has tons of inexpensive wonderful ideas for things you can do yourself. Don't stop at just the wedding ideas- check out childrens birthdays and baby showers and entertaining at home too. You can adjust the projects to your theme.

  7. Read "Miss Manners' Guide to Excrutiatingly Correct Behavior." This book will tell you what you really need to do and what is just so much clap trap invented by The Wedding Industry to get you to buy stuff.
