Question:

Smallest Dog Breeds?

I want to start a small buisness and buy 2 dogs (boy & girl) of a really tiny tiny dog breed. I have a toy poodle. But poodles aren't too good with children (especially toys). I wanted to get a so called "teacup" or "tiny toy". What are some of the cutest and smallest dog breeds. Sites and pictures would be great.! Thanks.

& I want to breed the two dogs too so they will have puppies.

  1. incoming fire!! duck and run! i feel a blasting comming your way

  2. Okay, I'm going to be completely honest with you.

Animal Breeding does not qualify as a business.

Teacups and Tiny Toys aren't real dogs. They aren't quality dogs. They are runts bred with runs, very unhealthy, and rarely live past ten years of age, DESPITE breed standards.

IF you want to breed dogs, start with ONE dog. Not two. Buy a champion bred dog and begin its training immediately. Start its ring training from four months of age. Its required that the dog WIN upwards of ten shows, including best of show and best of breed. It is NOT enough just to show your dog.

From the time the dog turns two years of age, have the dog taken to an AKC recognized veterinarian. Have the dog OFA'd, CERF, BAER, and PennHIP tested and cleared. Hire yourself a mentor.

Continue showing your dog, work towards championships.

By now, you should have spent the MINIMUM of 20K mininum (including the original purchase of dog, training, entry fees, vet checks, certifications, basic care, travel fees, grooming fees, etc).

When your dog has reached champion status, you may now consider breeding. But mind you, you will make NO money. You have to pay for everything. If you have a female, you must pay for a stud male. If you have a stud male, you have to work TWICE as hard to find another breeder willing to breed with your dog.

Once you find a mate that is of equal or greater status to your own dog, you may breed. You will pay for everything. Prenatal care, natal care, monitoring the progression of the puppies, the insurance on the dog, the care for the dog. And when whelping time comes, you must pay for the vet that has to be on site, THEN, when the pups are of age, you must pay for their starter shots.

Then, and only then, can you sell the puppies. You can ONLY sell them for what it cost you to care for the mother during pregnancy. However much you spent, divide that by the amount of puppies, and charge that.

    You will NOT make money.

    You will break even.

And next year, you get to do it all again.

  3. Your joking right? Do you really want to spend hundreds of dollars for puppies no one would want? Do you really want to have unhealthy puppies that will most likely be put in shelters where they would be put down? Do you even really care about animals? You know, the world isn't competing on how small and cute their animals is, so why would you encourage this? No one wants dogs from an irresponsible breeder. Do you even know what to do if something was wrong with your dog and couldn't give birth the the puppies? My opinion, they'd die before you could get them to the vet. How pathetic. Do us all a favor and get all of your dogs and future dogs fixed.

  4. If you are looking for a way to make money..  then go apply at McDonalds'

breeding is an expensive hobby.  Breeding tiny dogs like that means the cost of cecarians, and vet bills for pups with hypoglycemia, heart murmer, hydrocephalus, liver shunt, etc.

Its also unethical to breed tiny, unhealthy dogs.  None of these tiny breeds are good for children either, as they are fragile and delicate.

  5. I reccomend you do not do this. Let the experienced breeders do the "breeding". You dont need to be a breeder, its alot of money and time consuming. Will you be able to give every puppy its first shots/ worm them or Rabies for EVERY single puppy? And you need to have special food to give the mother for her nutriton and the puppies. its more work than you think. Also, dogs are not supposed to be "cute and small". Those types of Dogs have lots of health problems, not goo with children and are fragile.

  6. I don't even have the words.  Wait, i have a few...

What makes you think these sickly breakable runt-sized dogs are going to be good with children if this poodle of yours isn't?

What makes you think there aren't enough dogs in the world already?  Thousands sit in cages waiting for homes.  Thousands also get euthanized every day.  Why don't people understand this?  There are NOT enough homes for all the dogs in the world.  There are not enough homes!!  These are dogs just as good as yours, who deserve better than that, and you know it.  Don't be so selfish.

Don't get me started on why you shouldn't breed if you don't know what you're doing... and unless you have studied under a breed mentor for years, someone who breeds dogs to the letter of the breed standard, then you don't know enough.

  7. chihuahuas, yorkies, malteses are all pretty small.our chihuahua is very small but she ges along great with the 8 year old.

  8. WTf have you ever been to a shelter and seen all the dogs who dont have homes because people like you breed them I am at a shelter every day. A no kill shelter at that matter. Stop the breeding last year 65,000 dogs were killed in my  county. Holy c**p I cant believe you even asked that. millions are put down every year even with the shot those 2 seconds it take guess what they arent saying oh thank your for putting me down they are thinking WTH my lungs shut offff. look up safe haven rescue  they have all sorts of SPAYED AND NUETERED DOGS FOR YOU any body who is reading this please spay and nuter your  dog

  9. You are a troll or a sick, uneducated person. Dogs are bred to be "tiny toy and cute". They are bred to better the breed and health genetics. You are doing it for cuteness and cash. I advise you reconsider. You will lose more money than you make on vet bills for shots, supplies, checkups, emergency situations, etc.

  10. I can't tell if post was made by a troll or a monster. Probably both.

  11. Just a heads up that most small dogs are not so great with kids.
