Smart Bid to bid victory in the Ladbrokes Puppy Derby 2012 Semi-Final 3 at Monmore on 8th March
The Ladbrokes Puppy Derby 2012 Semi-Final 3 is to be staged at Monmore over 480 metres flat on Thursday, 8th March. The track will get invaded by six who will reel in for the wire to get entitled to the £200 prize money.
The most competitive participant on the lineup is Smart Bid, Ninja Jamie’s two-year-old black son out of b***h Expert Flash. He has majorly raced at Henlow but has been at Oxford and Monmore too.
He faced defeat in the first three starts by ending second, third and then fourth. He posted his seasonal victory in the RD Racing Trafalgar Cup – Heat 1on 18th February at Oxford over 450 metres.
The two-year-old timed the track distance in 26.70 seconds while in lead of three lengths. Smart Bid cornered the 4/5 favourite of the race, Droopys Stevie, into the second slot.
Finishing the race third behind the winner was Jolly Gino.
Smart Bid’s next start was in the RD Racing Trafalgar Puppy Cup Final on 25th February at Oxford over 450 metres and was placed second after covering the distance in 26.88 seconds while the race was won by Guinness Dusty.
Settling into the third position was Markeys Dragon while the 6/4 favourite of the race, Ministry May May got to leave the track in the end.
The two-year-old’s last start before this one was in the fourth heat of the Ladbrokes Puppy Derby on 1st March at Monmore over 480 metres. Trained by Chris Allsopp, Smart Bid was on the other end of the wire in 28.54 seconds while leading by a
mere shoulder’s difference.
Guinness Dusty was the runner up of the race while taking up the third slot was Camas and once again the evening’s favourite was driven down to leave the track in the end.
Tonight Smart Bid will make the seventh start of the season and has the most convincing credentials for making it across the wire than any other hound on the lot.
The lineup includes Pinewood Express, Be Real, Alien Planet, Slick Saleen and Bubbly Phoenix. Smart Bid has never encountered any of the hounds who been entered into today’s race and that might just make it all the more easier for him to dominate the track.
