  1. The Smart Car will most likely be like a Pt Cruiser, VW Beetle, or Mini Cooper. They will start out with a ridiculous amount of sales, then after some time, it will calm down.

  2. If you want something worth what you pay, having people look at you all the time in awe, and enjoying what you payed for...GO FOR IT! cause that's what im going to do!

a great forum all about the car that i use is www.smartcarofamerica.com!

  3. Still a petrol burner.

Death trap if a hummer T Bones it.

    I like that Tata Nanu

    Or the Mini Cooper.

Now a Cooper is a proven rally racer/daily driver.

You want s**y, good gas mileage, s**y or comfort, can't have all at once. Yet the Cooper almost covers it,,I think they are $14-18k USD.

That thing looks like a hype.

Parts, Service? rule of the road, things break.

Minis have the history and service reps.

  4. My 94 Civic is rock solid dependable and I can get 41 mpg (and I was speeding at 72 MPH - so I can get even better mpg at 55).

    And I can sit 5.

So I think it is a good try, but it needs to do better.  Much better.

    good luck...

  5. their a good investment, especially these days with gas being do high, but there are some of the older cars that did get some really good gas mileage, for instance i own a 87 Nissan that gets right at 44 miles to the gallon and that's carrying two people, but yes if i was considering a new car i would consider one,it will only save you money in the long run, your thinking wisely ,most people your age go for speed and power, your being conservative, which is a good thing, good luck.

  6. my family friend got a smart car...but it wasnt for her primary mode of transportation...she also has 3 other cars. (dont ask) she just wanted to be the first one on the block to have one, just like the iphone. dont get it if its for your primary mode of transportation. they're too small and they're fuel tank is too small!! get a prius

  7. OKAY people have got the smart car all wrong.

First off, it gets 35 MPG, which isn't too shabby, but it definately isn't the best. The point of the car is that its small, and you can fit it virtuallly everywhere, which is why they were sold in Europe.

The smart car is actually very safe. It's recieved amongst the highest safety ratings, because after all, it is made by the one and only mercedes.

And as of the price, the 12k one is the base base base one, i went to go look at one and the good one is around 14 grand, but its pretty fun to drive.

And as for buying the car, at the moment, it's really not worth the money. It's slow, but safe, decent MPG, but not good enough, your better off spending an extra 2k and getting the new honda Fit, or a Toyota Corolla.
