  1. 1114 miles / 32 miles per gallon = the number of gallons you will need.

the number of gallons you need x the price ($3.71) = the amount of money you will need.

I would suggest using $4.00/gallon for a price to allow for price differences....  and to be really safe, have some back-up money just in case the price is a lot higher ($4.25/gallon) in some places.

And don't forget to plan for the return trip...  if there is one.

  2. 1114 mile trip divided by 32 mpg=roughly 35 gallons of gas

    35 gal times 3.71=roughly130 dollars

  3. You also need to take into consideration whether or not you will be entering any heavily populated areas... where you may find yourself in slow moving traffic burning extra fuel... and whether or not you have any hilly roads to deal with.  There are many factors that come into effect when budgeting for a trip.  Also check the air pressure in your tires.  Properly inflated tires also help with mileage.
