Smash bros Brawl, characters jump but don't run forward?

Question

I can't get the characters to move forward or walk they literally won't move. I changed my wii remotes batteries but the main menu is being awkward too. HELP?

If you play without the nunchucks hold your controller sideways with the controll pannal to your left.  Then it is like a classic controller.

Its sounds like to me that something is wrong with your wii remote.

Id borrow a gamecube controller or another wii remote to make sure.

If the problem continues id suggest calling nintendo and see if they can help you out.

I really think you are holding your wii mote wrong. hold it horizontally to where buttons "1" and "2" are on the far right. then move with the D-pad

If that doesn't work...find a new controller/style

gamecube controllers are easier to play with and are like 14bucks each at gamestop... or maybe go to customer services at nintendo.com if there is  one... pretty sure there is cause i registered my wii there.
