look, there is no way that these guys can be COMPLETELY CRUSHING world records in every freakin race. in multiple races there were teams that broke previous world records, and they DIDNT EVEN MEDAL. i think the chinese built their pool about 2 inches TOO SHORT.

  1. The reason records are being crushed is a combination of multiple factors, one of which being that the Chinese built a pool 3 meters deep as opposed to 2 meters deep.  Thus, there is more area for the water to dissipate creating less drag.  In addition, the new Speedo LAZR suit is a huge factor, only like 1-2 of the new records was from someone not wearing a LAZR. Finally, the athletes are built like never before, train like never before and that is why you see records being smashed.

  2. Mainly has to do with the suits and the way the pool is built. There is a lot of records falling in the swimming pool and im glad the United States has their name on every single one.

  3. Speedo LZR, it reduces friction in the water and cuts off about .5 seconds of every minute (thats a rough estimate), that's why it costs like $600

  4. yes....quite fishing that an only man can win 8 gold medals...it sounds a bit a cheat matter...

  5. No they built it to be faster than a typical pool though. It's deeper and made to reduce waves.  Also they are using newly developed suits to reduce drag.

  6. there is something in the water.  I heard last night that the track and field events will be the same.  there will be some world records broken when the sprinters/runners take their turn at the Olympics.

  7. Actually, the Chinese have built the finest indoor pool in the world, which is one of the major reasons we're seeing world records fall left and right.   They made it the perfect depth to transfer turbulence from the surface to the bottom, and they made the pool wider so that the swimmers' wake dissipates more and doesn't reverberate back into the swimming lanes.

And they're all on HGH  ;)
