  1. Google "atom smashers." Better yet go to www.howstuffworks.com and search for atom smashers.

Atoms get smashed purposely all the time. By hi-tech machines called........what else? Atom smashers.

  2. okay, do you have a PhD in astrophysics? i'm guessing not. i do, and so do the people that are running this operation. it has become obvious that no one knows the fundemental laws of dark matter and black hole except for the people answering these questions about the "atom smashing monster". we have performed this operation a numerous amount of times. we have made microscopic black holes before. it didn't suck anything in, it just was a rip in space time created when an atom was destroyed. so once you do your reseach, get you degree in this subject, and study the project in detail, then you get to critisize it. when you have no idea what the project is talking about, then i sugest leaving the worries up to the scientists.

it isn't going to *possibly* through earth into a black hole. it *won't* throw earth into a black hole. again, all we are doing is creating a microscopic rip in space time. do you realize how small an atom is? how little mass it has? i could spend hours going over the calculations, but then again thats why we have google. a black hole doesn't necessarily suck everything in. black holes created by collapsed neutron stars do because the neutron star was extreamily massive. atoms aren't massive at all. they barely have any mass. one atom being smashed isn't going to suck things in. the atom should get about 6000 times its normal gravitational pull which will still be extreamily low. until you study the laws of gravity and figure it out yourself, you'll just have to trust me on this one.

it can't be stopped, and it won't be stopped. ow would you fell stopping one of the most groundbreaking scientific endevors in recorded history when there is nothing wrong with it.

we have already created microscopic black holes in labs. we've done it many times. its nothing new. and look! what do ya know! we haven't been sucked into a black hole yet!

the LHC conducted saftey inspections back in 2003 and conducted many of their experiments and it turned out fine. do your research into this subject, and if you still think that the world is going to be sucked into a black hole, get back to me.

  3. I'm sorry these answers are so far over your head.  Maybe I can explain it simply.  The LHC is a GOOD thing.  Atom smashers have been around for decades.  The black hole they talk about is just an idea that someone misunderstood and then explained wrong in a news article.  We will learn so much from the LHC.  Any black holes that are created will disappear faster than you can blink an eye.  Also they won't really even be black holes.  They just called them that as an analogy.

  4. The United Nations couldn't do anythign if they tried =]. But on topic....... If a black hole was created, it would be so tiny that it could not exist for much longer then a microsecond. if it did survive for a while it could not exist anywhere except for in the conditions in which ti was created. So turn the machine off, presto black hole is gone.

  5. the chances of that happening are astronomical, and may be even impossible

  6. Sweety,  you really haven't got a clue. Atoms have been smashed for years and years and years, and Earth never got thrown into a black hole.

  7. The truth is that there is a small possibility of creating highly microscopic blackholes with a lifetime measured in millionths of a second.  Such things pose no threat.
