Smashing wood with kick, HELP!?

Ok, i do Tang Soo do, im 13 years old, and yellow tag grading to yellow belt, i need to know:

Is it hard to brake the half wood?

Does it hurt?

As im under 16 they use half wood that is already partly snapped, can someone PLEASE give me some feedback?

  1. just make sure to use your hips and FOLLOW ALL THE WAY THROUGH (going through the object)-Guaranteed youi'll break it with no problem!!  good luck


  2. Well, having spent 12 years doing martial arts, I can tell you that it doesn't hurt.  Some people have more trouble with it than others--I didn't think it was hard, but others in my class had to take 3 or 4 swings at the wood--but if you practice and know where to hit it, you'll be fine.

  3. Usually the wood will break while shooting thousands of splinters into your leg.  Most of the time, these splinters cannot be removed and you will eventually have to amputate your now useless leg.

  4. All you've got to remember is to not pull your foot back after you hit the board. You may also want to take a test shot at it meaning you don't strike to break it, but you strike to see how hard it is, then you strike it.
