Smell in the air

Question

My Breeze AT produces a smell in the air when I have the purifier on. It does not clear up. I have replaced the filer and the plate. The smell goes through my whole house and does not smell healthy. My chest kind of hurts after breathing this in.I've had it for 3 1/2 years. I hadn't used it for about 6 months. I cannot use the sanitizer because I have a dog in the house during the day. The company wants $189 to refurbish it, but I think there is a definite problem.
