Smell of manure hanging over part of the UK at the moment?

I've noticed it for a few days now : here in Cambridge at least. Judging by the following, others are too:

I grew up in Iowa.  In the spring the farmers spread liquefied hog manure on the fields prior to planting.  While this is an effective natural fertilizer, it does tend to make the whole state smell like hog manure for a couple of weeks.

Could something like that be going on?

I can smell it here in Arizona also...oh wait, that's just a Mexican restaurant down the street!  Sorry to hear about the p**p smell there, I wonder what it could be.

I'm in Cambs as well....It stinks!

Went to Granchester for a meal yesterday and it was even worse there. Think it is the direction of the wind blowing it across the channel.

Please accept my apologies on behalf of the USA. The smell is emanating from Washington, DC and from our political campaigns. Some will be gone by November and, with luck, most of the rest will be gone in January.
