Smell of marijuana/drugs in apartment building?

If you have strong suspicion that a tenant is smoking marijuana inside his/her room, what can you do to solve the problem?

Actually, no suspicion...The smell is quite strong.

If you call the police, then you could be putting your future security in jeopardy, ya? Unless it's an anonymous call.

  1. Stuff gives me a headache!

You can call your local police and let them know about the problem. If anything...it will help them build their "intel" files.

If you provide information anonymously they can make contact with the resident and inform them of "someones" observations and give them warning.

As for it being a "victimless crime"...I don't think so! Around my parts thugs beat you up for what remaining cash you have in your wallet while you buy your stash.

I know there's worse stuff on the streets...BUT...dope'n and drive'n isn't any better than drink'n and drive'n and I've personally seen what weed and driving does! So you can't tell me it's a "victimless crime!"

  2. Call the cops?   Alot of law enforcement officers smoke the buds themselves.  Check out this link,  A NV highway trooper, smoked some weed, drove a car and killed an innocent person.  I hope they throw this guy in prison where he belongs.  What an idiot and moron.  Cops are hippocrits!

  3. victimless crime NOT.go ahead and put an anonymous call to the police.they will check it out for you.in the mean time find a better place to live.there's no reason anyone who is decent enough not to do it should have to put up with that. stand up for yourself and your rights and good luck.

  4. meth lab yes, pot no - - unless their apartment is nicer than yours and you want their apartment - then drop the dime.

but be careful - - they WILL know it's you; maybe tell them "the property manager was up walking around the hall the other night" and then drop a dime, they'll think it was the property manager.

  5. If you decide to call the police, make the call anonymously, and inform them of the situation. If you can smell it that strongly in your apartment, then they will definitely smell it when they walk down the hallway. Once they smell it themselves, they have enough probable cause to act on it. Places like that often will have "other things" going on as well. Also, it is not healthy for you to be exposed to it.

  6. 1) victimless crime

    2) none of your business

    3) most pot smokers arent violent; there not smoking crack or somthing

  7. Well you have to be careful.  I know MJ has a distinguishable odor, but it could be something not as bad.  However, there is no harm in reporting it to the police or building manager, it is obviously a nuisance to you and probably others.  If they are potheads, I highly doubt with thier laid back attitudes that you'd be in any physical danger.  Potheads are not the brightest bulbs in the world.  However, police make all calls anonymous unless they have to press charges, then they need witnesses and the accused have the right to face thier accusers.

  8. I would suggest minding your own business.  They are only hurting themselves.

  9. What business is it of yours? Would you want *your* neighbor to turn you in to the police for something as stupid as smoking a joint?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating drug use, but I fail to see how it benefits society or anyone to lock people up for using a drug that, when all is said and done, is less harmful than alcohol.

  10. who cares..

    victimless crime.
