Question:

Smelly Fire Fighter Equipment and no where to store them.?

My fiance is a fire fighter and he brings home his turnouts at the end of every shift. Currently we are living in a small apartment and I have run out of ideas on how to store his equipment. Right now he is leaving them on the floor in the dining/living room, but they stink up the whole place with their lovely fragrant smokey smell, but he needs to be able to get to them and get them out every other day or so. They take up quite a bit of space, considering it's his turnouts, boots, helmet, and wild-land gear. I would say they take up the size of six boxes of paper. Please give me some ideas.

  1. Maybe put them in a rubber storage container.  Or, put a suit cover over them and hang it in a closet.  (the kind that zips up over the hangers)  Could he keep them in the trunk of the vehicle?  Other than that, think of the smell as an honorary frangrance.  I'm sure he's saved lots of homes/businesses/lives in that uniform.

  2. You can buy plastic storage containers in many different sizes.  I know they aren't all that pretty to look at, but perhaps you could store his stuff in one or more of these.  God bless him for risking his life for others.
