My cat keeps pissing on things!!! She didn't the first year and a half I had her! Now I don't know what to do with her - she is literally destroying all my furniture and my apartment. It would be super sad to get rid of her - and she's declawed so she can't become a farm cat! Getting rid of her would be the hardest thing ever and seems out of the question but what the heck is her problem all of a sudden?

  1. Get her to the vet for a urinalysis and possibly x-rays.  She could have a urinary tract infection, crystals in her urine, or cystitis.   If she checks out healthy, your vet can discuss behavior modification techniques and possibly behavior meds with you.

For future reference, declawing cats can cause litterbox problems.

  2. She might be looking for a mate.  Is she fixed? In my experience, some inside cats tend to go a little crazy if they haven't mated.  I've had female cats that have tried to mate with other female cats and one would kinda get in position in front of any person! If she's not fixed, you might have to either get her fixed or find a mate for her.

    Hope this helps.

  3. If she is not fixed I would recommend doing so. She could be marking her territory to go into heat. Getting her fixed (if she is not) will get her to have a better personality, and stop peeing on things.

EDIT: Oh yeah, she could have  a bladder infection, so if she is fixed, take her to the vet. Because cats who are fixed shouldn't be marking their territory. And if it isn't a bladder infection, ask the vet ways to stop your cat from doing this.

  4. I had that problem too. Google your question. There is alot of things that can be causing your cat to do this, all of which can be resolved easily. There is lots of good info online regarding this. Maybe there is something near the cat box that your cat cant stand or is scared of. Go research it and keep your cat, good luck.

  5. well..... I HAVE LOTS OF REASONS!! I HAVE SIX CATS AND THE FEMALES NEVER PEE  ON THINGS ONLY THE MALES! BEFORE I CAN HELP YOU I NEED TO KNOW IF SHE SLEEPS IN YOUR ROOM EVERY NIGHT? IS THERE ANOTHER CAT THAT PEE ALSO? DOES SHE GETTING ALONG WITH THE OTHER? DOES SHE PEE ON YOU ALSO? YOU NEED A MORE SPECIFIC QUESTION! THEN I CAN HELP! FOR NOW MY OPINION IS MAYBE SHE WANTS TO BE THE BOSS! AND THERE IS ANOTHER IN THE WAY! SHE'S MARKING HER TERITORY AND TRYING TO SAY! '*****! THIS HOUSE IS MINE AND YOU ARE MINE!' JUST REMEMBER "CATS OWN YOU!YOU OWN THEM!"

  6. is she fixed she might be marking her teritory and yes girls do that to

  7. have you had her to the vet?

  8. Your cat is upset, because of being declawed. Its like cutting off part of your finger off. How would you like it???? Anyways,To stop the cat from peeing on things, everytime she drinks wait a bit then put her in the litterbox. To stop the scratching on the furniture, I suggest buying catnip spray, cat bed, cat scratching post, and cat treats. After you have done this, spray the catnip on the furniture that you want the cat to scratch on. When the cat scratchs the furniiture u want it to scratch praise it  say "Good girl/boy,Name"and give alots of attension. If it scratchs the furniture you dont want it to scratch push it off and say "Bad girl/boy,Name" and dont give it attension for a while. I hope your problem gets resovled! :)   Tip: Dont declaw a cat again...

  9. First off - is she spayed?  I suspect she is since she's been declawed.  If not, then that's the first step.  Do you have a covered litter box?  If so, remove the cover.  Any changes as to litter box location, type of litter, frequencey of scooping, etc?  Has she been to the vet to be checked for a urinary tract infection, and/or crystals in the urine?  Both of these are very painful, and can cause a cat to go outside the box as they associate the pain when they urinate with the box.  And finally - litter box aversion is one of the common side effects of declawing.  If there are no health issues (as per the vet) and the box is clean, then it may just simply a case of refusing to use the box due to the declawing surgery. It doesn't necessarily happen right after - they can develop very painful paws for some time afterwards, and it hurts to dig in the litter box.   And if that's the case - then it's a situation you created, and will have to learn to live with.

  10. she might have a bladder infection, take her to the vet.

  11. Well my cat does it outside in the dirt. It's a common trait of un-spayed and un-neutered cats. Since your cat is an indoor cat, I'd reccomend spaying her.
