Smelly laundry?

any home remedies for smelly laundry? I think it is something in our water system really. But I can use a washcloth, a clean one, say to wipe the kids face and hands, rinse it, and lay it across the edge of the sink in case I need it again later. And a few hours later it has soured! What is the worst part about it is that I cannot then, wash the sour smell out! Detergent, sometimes bleach, and softener, and nothing works. I tried using the Febreeze additive especailly for your laundry, but at $9.00 a bottle, I can't do that! Any ideas???

  1. Do you have one of those new HE machines like the Calypso or the front loaders? If so your clothes are probably sour you just don't realize it untill you get them wet. Put "moldy smell in front load washers" in your search engine and you'll see it's a common problem.

  2. Simple solution BAKING SODA!!

It cleans the water naturally so all your laundry will be clean! it's inexpensive too and it makes my laundry naturally soft. I have really bad allergies so I always just use baking soda. Try it. Oh and just use it with your regular detergent it improves it's cleaning agents and cleans the water. But the detergents that add baking soda like the arm and hammer brand are not as good. So just add the baking soda. I add a scoop of detergent and then the same amount of baking soda. But I found that putting the baking soda in the washer first before I turn the water on then add my laundry then last add the soap works best cause it cleans the water first :) Good Luck!

  3. ~~Fill your bleach compartment with white vinegar. Your laundry will smell fresh and clean and it removes mildew. You can even put it right inside your washer on your clothesr if you prefer. It gets along fine with all fabrics (actually helps towels become more absorben)t, and it's good for your machine too.~~

  4. Try Arm & Hammer plus Oxi Clean! It make cloths smell fresh & it cleans well too. When using any cloth make sure you rinse in clear water before hanging (especially in the summer months).draping over a sink or tub will not let the cloth air dry  ....I know I have done that & its soured when I'd go to use it.  Hope this helps you.
