  1. Try scrubbing your scalp, not just your hair.

    Extreme Scalp Odor

Q: I've had a problem with extreme scalp odor for years. At first, I blamed it on the chemicals in my hair products but expensive and all-natural specialty products haven't helped a bit. Even prescription anti-fungal shampoos have zero affect. Now it's so noticeable that I'm too embarrassed to leave my house. What else can I do?

Dr. Donnica: Any kind of body odor can be very embarrassing, but there's one trip I want to encourage you to take - to your dermatologist. Believe it or not, there are several possible causes of scalp odor. One is just an overproduction of oil from the sebaceous glands in the scalp. This may lead to an overgrowth of bacteria or even a bacterial infection. Yeast or fungus overgrowths are also possible and may have an unpleasant odor. While you're waiting for your appointment, you may want to try some over-the-counter products that some women with similar problems have seen great results with such as Dial anti-bacterial body wash™. Some women have reported success with sulfur-containing shampoos such as Sebulex.

    Good luck!

  3. I suggest head and shoulders dandruff shampoo, it will work!!! Then scrub your scalp well, and then count to 120 while standing outside the water, and then rinse it out, rubbing your scalp gently. Don't forget to shower everyday! :)

  4. that's sord of what happens to me at times , and its not ew , its just how your scalp goes , ask ur hairstylist. maybe , they would give yuh a special type of shampoo that works with your hair :)

  5. I suggest either a dandruff shampoo or a clarifying shampoo.  There might be excessive buildup of oils and stuff, which the clarifying shampoo should get rid of =) Good luck!

  6. ew!

  7. i have had this problem.  there are products you can use almost like a perfume for hair. salon selectives makes one that smells like roses. also you can try a dry shampoo its a powder you sprinkle on then comb in, this will also help fight that greasy look. Hope this helps
