Smiling Fish International series 2012: Shimozaki Aya and Emi Moue win Women’s Doubles crown
Japan’s Shimozaki Aya and Emi Moue proved their mettle as they won the Women’s Doubles crown at the Smiling Fish International Series 2012 on Sunday, May 6, in Thailand.
Shimozaki and Emi were impressive in the court when they outplayed Wiranpatch Hongchookeat and Puttita Supajirakul of Thailand in the title match and claimed the title.
The higher ranked Japanese shuttlers, who were second seeds in Women’s Doubles draw of Smiling Fish International, proved their highly elevated skills and thrashed their local opponents without showing them any mercy.
The second seeded Shimozaki and Emi played with impressive maturity and overpowered their Thai opponents in straight sets by working for 40 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, the local shuttlers could not live up to the expectations of their home fans and lost to their higher ranked Japanese opponents without putting up a strong impact.
In the opening set, Shimozaki and Emi did not consume much time in taking the control of the pace.
They spared no chance for their local opponents to dominate the pace and set up a remarkable lead on the board until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the Japanese ladies continued their roller coaster run in this final contest and did not face any problem in winning the opening game with a tremendous 21-11 score on the board.
However, it was different situation in the second game when Wiranpatch and Puttita showed their brilliance in opening rallies.
Both pairs played with aggression in opening half and remained close until the mid-game break.
After the interval, Shimozaki and Emi tried to take control of rallies by working well at net but failed to take advantage as their Thai opponents were quicker this time.
The Thai shuttlers remained close to their higher ranked challengers in the whole game and reached at 20-20.
Shimozaki and Emi played positive and composed badminton at this breathtaking stage and managed to take the game with a 22-20 score on the board.
Shimozaki and Emi bagged the Women’s Doubles crown by winning the final fight with an entertaining margin of 21-11 and 22-20.
