What do you think? Is it a good gun? Would Police departments benefit from this?

  1. It appears to be a decent and reliable weapon so far. Definitely a step above the Sigma series. Departments don't really "Benefit" from having one manufacturer's weapon over another except for costs in purchasing.

Everyone has their favorites but I'm not a big fan of the "one size fits all" approach to deciding what an Officer carries as a duty weapon.

  2. This looks to be a good duty weapon so far.  In the past S&W semi-auto pistols have been behind the curve for a duty weapon. Their revolvers have worked well for years, and they might have it right this time with the M&P.  Ony extended use will tell for sure. For a issued duty pistol the Glock still has top billing and a proven record. I have carried a Glock pistol as a primary and secondary duty pistol over 20 years in both 9mm and .40 S&W.  As a firearms instructor I have been exposed to all that is out there for duty guns.  Glock is still my first choice.
