http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Smith-c90598 has all-round pace attack, says Jonty Rhodes – Cricket News Update
Former South African all-rounder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013,
scheduled in July 2012.
"I think http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GC-Smith-c1473, as a Test captain, must be pretty happy," said Rhodes.
Rhodes was impressed with the recent performances of the pace arsenal, which includes the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 and claim the 3-match Test series
by a 1-0 margin, after they had bagged the T20 and ODI series.
"It's not just Dale Steyn, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vernon-Philander-c2753...so there are three pacers who bowl very differently, which is often difficult to counter," said the national team's fielding coach.
The 42-year-old former SA cricketer was particularly impressed with Philander, who took twenty-one wickets in three Tests matches and became the fastest player to reach 50 scalps in more than 100 years. According to Rhodes, the pacer’s success has been associated
with the remarkable accuracy and control he has over the red ball.
"It's great -- fastest guy in 100-odd years to reach 50 Test wickets. I think what is good is he hasn't made his debut at the age of 22," added the Fielding Specialist.
Rhodes, who has represented his side in 245 ODIs and 52 Test matches, also expressed pleasure in watching his team sweeping the Kiwis in all forms of the game, and was hopeful that the success achieved in the early part of 2012 will prove influential for
the latter half of the year, where the team takes on England in England – contesting in three five-day games, along with 5 ODIs and three T20s.
Prior to this, some of the SA players will be participating in the upcoming event of the Twenty20 arena, Indian Premier League, which is scheduled to start on April 4, 2012.
